These deadend covers are designed for automatic deadends and straight line, spring loaded, side opening deadend shoes. They will also work on smaller bolted shoes. See example pictures of suggested pinning arrangements. The pin hole pattern is the same for all covers. The thought is to place one pin above the shoe directly behind the conductor where it exits to prevent the cover from dropping down and sliding forward, place another pin under the shoe between the bolts to prevent the cover from sliding upward towards the insulator or down the conductor. Place another pin above the conductor out towards the front of the shoe to prevent the cover from tilting downward. With automatic type deadends place one pin through the cover and through the rigging eye of the automatic. This will prevent the cover from also rotating. Place another pin below the automatic to prevent the cover from lifting up. Place another pin above the conductor to prevent it from tilting downward. For smaller shoes and automatics with no rigging eye you can use a deadend key, part # DE-1. It is inserted between the rails of the shoe or automatic and pinned through the cover. This helps prevent the cover from rotating.
